Rockworth advises on sale of Orange Chemicals to IMCD
The Winchester-based chemicals distribution business was fully acquired by IMCD to accelerate the global group’s UK growth.
Rockworth has advised the shareholders of Orange Chemicals on a successful 100% sale to IMCD UK.
Founded in 1976, Orange Chemicals is a specialist distribution business, supplying a wide range of chemicals for applications including the manufacture of coatings, adhesives, plastics, advanced construction materials, and fragrances. Under Managing Director John Millett, who acquired Orange Chemicals from its founder in 2007, the business has achieved steady and consistent growth. Turnover reached £27.6 million in 2022.
With its headquarters in the Netherlands, IMCD is a global leader in the formulation, sales and distribution of specialty chemicals and ingredients. The company has a presence in more than 50 countries across six continents, generating revenues of €4.6 billion in 2022.
Orange Chemicals brings an extensive product list and excellent relationships with suppliers and customers that are highly complementary to IMCD’s existing UK operations. The acquisition will expand IMCD’s customer offering and accelerate its growth in the UK and Ireland markets.
Commenting on the transaction, John Millett said, “This was the first time I have sold a business, and having Rockworth’s advice and support throughout the process proved to be crucial to the outcome. In my opinion, the whole Rockworth team were outstanding – I couldn’t have picked a better advisory firm. Their calm guidance and constant professionalism were hugely appreciated by everyone involved in the transaction. I would have no hesitation in recommending Rockworth to any business owner who is looking for the best path to an exit.”
